What’s a Service Like?

Our worship services are liturgical and thematic.

Liturgical – We follow an order of service, celebrating God’s presence and promises, proclaiming that He alone is worthy of praise.  We confess our sins, receive absolution, hear from His Word, profess our faith, share time in prayer, sing together, and receive the Sacraments.

Thematic - Every part of our service points to a theme of the day, whether we celebrate a festival day in the life of our faith family or in the church year proper.

When you worship with us, you will find that we are guided by a worship folder.  There is a great deal of participation and response.  We blend traditional orders of worship with the language of everyday conversation.

What’s the music like?

We celebrate all forms of music!  In most services, we are guided by organ and piano music, often supported by vocal, bell and chime choirs.  Many of our special pieces, anthems, and solos feature a variety of instruments, highlighting a blend of old spirituals and contemporary hymns.

Our congregational hymns are often sung from the song books shared in our pews.

How do people dress?

Come as you are!  You will find a number of folks in their ‘Sunday best,’ but you will also find those who are dressed in jeans and casual attire.

What about my kids?

All ages are welcome!  For our younger friends, we have Busy Bags and Busy Boxes available in the pew spaces.  Story and coloring books are also available.

For our infant and toddler friends, there is a Mother’s Room in the sanctuary, outfitted with glider rockers, a pack ‘n play, a child’s bathroom, and a dresser filled with extra clothes, blankets, diapers, and wipes for those who need it.  Our aim is to supply young moms with anything they might need, in case anything is forgotten at home.

In addition to our Mother’s Room, each bathroom in the facility features a Koala Changing Station as well as diapers and wipes.   If you use any materials, we simply ask you donate replacements as you are able.

For children and families, we also have a family resource room that provide a safe, quiet space for nursing mothers and sleepy children.

Sunday School for children ages 3-12 is also offered during the Fellowship Hour on Sunday mornings from 9:15 – 10:15.

Can I take Communion?

What follows here is the Communion Statement we have agreed upon as a faith family:

The Lord’s Supper is celebrated at this congregation in the confession and confidence that, as He says, our Lord gives not only bread and wine but His very body and blood to eat and drink for the forgiveness of sins and to strengthen our union with Him and one another.

Our Lord invites to His table those who trust His words, repent of all sin, and set aside any refusal to forgive and love as He forgives and loves us.

Because those who eat and drink our Lord’s body and blood unworthily do so to their great harm and because this Supper is a confession of the faith which is professed around this altar, any who are not yet instructed, in doubt, or who hold a confession differing from that of this congregation and the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, and yet desire to receive the sacrament, are asked first to speak with the pastor or an elder before coming to the Lord’s table.

Note:  Non-alcoholic wine is available in the center cups of our individual communion tray.

How can I get connected?

You are welcome to call our Church Office and arrange a meeting with our staff and pastor, or a tour of our facility!

You are welcome to join us as a member through our Discipleship Orientation called Explore St. Luke’s!  This short series of classes outlines what we believe, teach, and confess, our mission and values, and provides opportunity to meet and know fellow newcomers as well as our seasoned members and ministry leaders.

Where do I park?

Our church parking lot is located east of our church facility.  Long-term members are encouraged to park further out so that any visitors may park closer to the entryway.  More accessible parking is designated in the front, center of the lot, just in front of our canopy walk-way.
